Thursley and Ockley Commons
Those of you who ride on these commons will know about the great improvements that have been done on the bridleways over the past few years. They have been largely funded by Natural England who are not just responsible for nature conservation but also have a remit to promote public access. I have been asked if I can organise local horsey volunteers to help with a one-off day of scrub clearance and bonfires on the commons this autumn. I think it’s important that we show that riders are prepared to do our bit for nature conservation and I’d really appreciate it if you’d let me know if you’d give up a (short) day to help. James Giles from Natural England will run the day on either a weekday or a weekend, whatever suits us.
